5 Reasons Why Travel Nursing is a Must!!!!

  1. Makes you a Badass Nurse!!

Travel Nursing forces you to engage with people outside from your work life. I’m pretty shy so this was a huge deal for me. Stepping outside of my comfort zone and taking the next step in my nursing career. As a travel nurse you only get one-day of orientation on your floor so it forces you to be a badass nurse; by enabling you to broaden your skills making you more confident and a stronger nurse. Travel nursing also proves we’re up for a challenge and shows how easily we adapt to change.

  1. Make & Save Money

As a travel nurse you get a tax-free housing stipend and weekly pay. Travel with a friend to save more money. My roommate and I got lucky. We found a really great deal for housing on Airbnb. I Highly recommend Airbnb for all travelers and finding your own housing to pocket more money.

  1. Allows you to be a Tourist in a New City

So far I’ve discovered Chicago, Illinois. It’s only an hour and 20 minutes away from Milwaukee, Wisconsin where I’m located for my contract. I’ve done some fun site seeing, such as Millennium Park, Navy Pier, a visit to the Willis Tower Skydeck and Museum of science & industry. I’ve tried some amazing food like Chicago-style deep-dish pizza, coffee, beer and wine.

  1. Meet New People

As a travel nurse you meet other travelers who share the same interest as you and open for new adventure. So far I’ve made friends with my nail technician, hair dresser, brow esthescian, gym friends, and friends who enjoy the nightlife and shown me around the new city.

  1. Avoid Nursing Burnout

Moving from city to city and to a new facility is a great benefit. You don’t get bored. You’re more motivated and excited to be a work. You don’t have to deal with certain people you don’t care for, listen to gossip, or nursing politics. Lastly you don’t have to attend those inconvenient nursing meetings at 7 am on your off days!!.
